Gracing the venue of the ongoing 17th Mumbai International Film Festival at JB Hall, Films Division Complex today, will be India’s internationally renowned tigress, Machli or T-16 of Ranthambore National Park.

Before you skip a heartbeat, it is not the feline herself but a documentary on her that will be screened at the venue. The film “The World’s Most Famous Tiger”, which won the National Award in the category “Best Indian Environment Film” in 2019, has been directed by Subbaih Nalla Muthu. The filmmaker will also hold a Master Class at the same place.

The 44-minute-long documentary follows the life of Machli from her prime till her death capturing her rise to power, her heart-breaking descent and the extraordinary legacy she left behind.

Machli was fondly called by different names like ‘Lady of the Lake’, ‘Queen of Ranthambore’ and ‘Crocodile Killer’. She also earned the distinction of being the most photographed tigress in the world.
