Braveheart Simba – Mumbai’s bomb squad dog cremated with 3-gun salute

Simba, the Labrador who did yeoman service in Mumbai's bomb detection and disposal squad

Having worked tirelessly in service of the nation and its security, Simba, one of the key members of Mumbai’s bomb detection and disposal squad, passed away. He was given a hero’s farewell and cremated with a three-gun salute.

Regarded as one of the bravest dogs of the squad, nine-year-old Simba joined the force in 2013. He was trained for detection of explosives and was used extensively for VVIP and VIP security arrangements.

This brave Labrador passed away due to unknown reasons and received the deserved State funeral for his exemplary services. He was cremated with a three-gun salute at the Veterinary Hospital in Parel, Mumbai.

Abhishek Joshi shared a photo of Simba online on his Twitter and wrote: "Simba, the Bomb Detection dog was given the state funeral, and he was cremated with a three-gun salute at the Veterinary hospital in Parel, Mumbai. Thanks for your service, Simba"

Video footage was also shared on social media showing police officials paying their last respects to the brave dog.

Internet users too expressed their condolences at Simba’s passing away.
