Afghanistan's famous pop star Aryana Sayeed, who fled to Turkey after the Taliban’s lightning takeover of Kabul, has blamed Pakistan for training and funding the militant group and thanked India for helping Afghans

Afghanistan's famous pop star Aryana Sayeed, who fled to Turkey after the Taliban’s lightning takeover of Kabul, has blamed Pakistan for training and funding the militant group and thanked India for helping Afghans in the dire situation that they are going through.

"I do blame Pakistan. Over the years, we have seen videos, seen evidence that Pakistan is behind empowering the Taliban, " the pop star said in an exclusive interview with ANI from an undisclosed location as she fears for her life.

She said the Taliban terrorists are being instructed and trained by Pakistan and there was a need to cut off funds flowing to them.

"They are being instructed by Pakistan, their bases are in Pakistan where they get their training. I hope the international community, first of all, cut off their funds and don't offer funds to Pakistan for funding the Taliban," ANI cited Sayeed as saying.

She also urged the international community to sit down and find a solution to bring peace to Afghanistan. "I hope they can put pressure on Pakistan. I believe that we're dealing with all these issues in Afghanistan because of Pakistan," she added.

She praised the Indian government's development efforts in Afghanistan and described India as "true friend". India had always stood by the Afghan people in their hour of need, she added.

"On behalf of Afghanistan, I want to express my utmost gratitude to India and I want to say thank you. Over the years we've realised that the only good friend in the neighbourhood we have is, India," she added.

Aryana Sayeed also criticised the US for spending two decades in Afghanistan and suddenly deciding to withdraw their troops.

She made a passionate plea to the international community to help Afghan nationals as millions of them especially women, and children don’t deserve what they are going through now.

Aryana Sayeed has been on the Taliban hit list since 2015 as she had in defiance of Islamic rules for women, entered a stadium to sing. Besides, she did not wear a hijab.
