Watch: Boeing cargo plane splits into two parts on landing, pilots have miraculous escape

A Boeing 757 cargo airplane broke into two parts during an emergency landing at the Costa Rica airport on Thursday, with the two pilots having a miraculous escape.</p>

The video footage of the incident shows thick smoke billowing from the plane which belonged to German logistics giant DHL</p>

The two pilots flying the plane were shaken up but were found to be "in a good condition," after a check-up in hospital, according to an AFP report. </p>
<p>
The accident happened just before 10:30 am (1630 GMT) after the Boeing-757 plane, which had taken off from the Juan Santamaria international airport outside San Jose, was forced to return 25 minutes later for an emergency landing due to a technical failure.</p>
<p>
The pilots had alerted local authorities about a hydraulic problem in the aircraft.</p>
