Taliban commander brings newlywed bride home in a military helicopter, video goes viral

A Taliban commander has run into a major controversy as he used a military helicopter to take his newlywed bride home in a show of power and ostentation. He flew his bride from Logar to Khost province in eastern Afghanistan, according to local media reports.</p>
<p>
In a video that went viral on social media, the commander is seen landing near the bride's house. The commander allegedly gave his father-in-law 1,200,000 Afghanis as dowry in exchange for his daughter's hand in marriage, a report in the local Khaama Press said.</p>

The Taliban bigwig was referred to as a commander of the powerful Haqqani branch of the Taliban on social media,</p>

The incident happened on Saturday, in the Shah Mazar region of the Barki Barak district of Logar province.</p>
<p>
The video that was circulated on social media incited outrage among the public, who criticized the action as a misuse of public property and pointed out that it was in conflict with the Taliban supreme leader’s words made in the grand assembly.</p>
<p>
However, Taliban's deputy spokesperson, Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, defended the commander, claiming the allegations were false. He attributed the reports to  "propaganda of the enemy". He added that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan dismisses the allegation of a military helicopter being used by the Talibani commander.</p>
