In another post, Pakistani PM Imran Khan’s friend turned foe and co-founder of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party Akbar S Babar compared Khan to the infamous Uganda dictator of 1970s Idi Amin.

“President Idi Amin of Uganda awarded the best performance award to his six-year-old son at the peak of "Idi Amin Ki Riyasat". We are almost there,” Babar wrote, sharing a video clip of Idi Amin giving an award to his son.

“An army distributing awards for gallantry after a humiliating defeat. A Prime Minister distributing Best Performance Awards after destroying a country's honour, economy and future. It can happen Only in Pakistan,’’ says Mustansar Billah, a Pakistani, a social and scientific researcher.

It all started on Thursday when Pakistani PM Imran Khan awarded appreciation certificates to the top 10 best performing federal ministries and announced incentives and extra allowance for employees so that they could work hard and do better than before. People were surprised to find the name of Sheikh Rashid, the Interior Minister who is responsible for the internal security of the country.

“While the country is on the verge of collapsing, Imran Khan is doing drama. While the world is accusing human rights minister Shireen Mazari, Imran Khan gives her the award for the best minister. He has become a laughing stock because his incompetence,” says Umar Baig, a Pakistani human rights activist.

There are reports that some of the senior ministers and close aides to Khan had expressed displeasure over the idea of giving awards at this time when the government is struggling on every front – internal and external, but Khan refused to listen to them though he admitted that his government has failed to bring about changes.

“The biggest problem is that there has been no connection between the government and the interest of the country,” said Khan in the award function.

All is not well in the Imran Khan government who is facing a huge challenge from the opposition which has united in a bid to oust Imran Khan by March 23.
