His visit marks the first high-level political interaction between India and China following the standoff between the two countries in Eastern Ladakh.</p>
<p>
Analysts say that dialogue could begin the process of restoring the status quo ante at the border as it existed prior to the Chinese incursion in Ladakh in May 2020. The normalisation at Line of Actual Control (LAC) can pave the way for an in person BRICS summit which China is slated to host later this year.</p>
