When Britain's Prince Charles becomes king, his wife Camilla will receive Queen Elizabeth’s famous Kohinoor crown which has an India-connection, according to a report the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper.

The priceless Kohinoor is a 105.6 carat diamond that was found in India in the 14th century. In 1849, after the British annexed Punjab, the diamond was ceded to Queen Victoria and has been part of the British Crown Jewels since then.

The Kohinoor diamond is set in a platinum crown created for Queen Elizabeth for the 1937 coronation of King George VI and is kept on display in the Tower of London.

Camilla has been criticised for her role in the breakdown of Prince Charles and Princess Diana's marriage. Keeping this delicate issue in mind, the royal family had announced after her marriage in 2005, that she would be known as Princess Consort after Charles became king.

However, in what appears to be a change of status for Camilla, Queen Elizabeth II on Saturday said, "it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort". The announcement came on a historic day as the Queen marked the 70-year anniversary of her accession to the British throne.
