The Indo-Pak war of 1971 began on December 3. The war concluded with Pakistan&#39;s surrender to the joint forces of Indian Army and Bangladesh&#39;s Mukti Bahini. 16 December, marked as Vijay Diwas, is a significant day for India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Under the leadership of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, General Sam Manekshaw lead the Indian Army which launched several preparatory operations in East Pakistan including training and equipping of the Mukti Bahini. Manekshaw strategically and holistically designed the strategy for the war in which the Indian Army, Navy and the Air Force fought in unison.</p>
