Weather office expects current spell of heavy rainfall in most states to continue for next 4 to 5 days

<p>
The current spell of heavy rainfall is likely to continue over northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days. The rainfall activity is likely to decrease over the area thereafter, according to the India Meteorological Department.</p>
<p>
Isolated extremely heavy rainfall also likely over Assam & Meghalaya during 17th-19th June and over Arunachal Pradesh.</p>
<p>
Rainfall is also predicted over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next 5 days, the MeT Department said in a statement.</p>
<p>
The Southwest Monsoon will further advance into Madhya Pradesh, remaining parts of Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh and west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal during the next three days.</p>
<p>
The monsoon will also enter some more parts of Odisha and Bihar, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand over the coming few days.</p>
<p>
Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning with gusty winds very likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during the next four to five days.</p>
<p>
The IMD also forecast fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning over Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, Kerala and Mahe and Lakshadweep during the coming few days.</p>
<p>
Meanwhile, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is likely over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days.</p>
<p>
<strong>Northern states</strong></p>
<p>
Under the influence of Western Disturbance at middle tropospheric levels, widespread rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning is very likely over the Western Himalayan region, including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next four to five days.</p>
<p>
Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over plains, including Delhi, Punjab and Haryana and Delhi till June 20. Isolated rainfall is also expected over Rajasthan.</p>
