Video: 5 killed, 12 injured as speeding car rams into parked vehicles on Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai

Five people were killed and 12 injured after a speeding car rammed into stationary vehicles at the site of an accident that had taken place minutes earlier on the Bandra-Worli sea link in Mumbai.

The accident took place around 3:30 am on Wednesday when an ambulance and other vehicles were parked on the side of the road, to take those injured in the earlier accident to hospital.

CCTV footage of the horrifying crash shows that as the evacuation of the injured is under way away on the Bandra to Worli lane, a speeding car crashes into the stationary vehicles

Thirteen people, including a woman and a Sea Link employee, were injured and five of them were later declared dead during treatment, a senior police official confirmed.

Following the accident, police took the injured to the hospital with the help of local people. The authorities then closed the road from Bandra to Worli.

Six of the injured were undergoing treatment in different hospitals. Two others were allowed to go after being treated for minor injuries, the police said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

“Pained by the loss of lives due to an accident on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai. Condolences to the bereaved families. I hope that those who have been injured have a speedy recovery,” the PM’s office tweeted.
