A Vande Bharat Express train will be introduced on the Mumbai-Goa route soon to cut the travel time between the two destinations, Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve informed a delegation of Maharashtra legislators who met him on Friday.
The electrification of the entire Mumbai-Goa railway route has now been completed and the Vande Bharat Express will be introduced after an inspection of the tracks is carried out, the minister told the delegation.
The information was shared in a press release by Niranjan Davkhare, a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council representing the Konkan graduates constituency, according to a PTI report.
The Vande Bharat express has already been rolled out on Mumbai-Shirdi and Mumbai-Solapur routes and this will be the third such train.
The introduction of the semi-high speed train on the Goa route is expected to give a further boost to tourism as the travel time will come down drastically. It will also help to decongest road traffic on the Mumbai-Goa highway which in turn will bring down the number of accidents and enhance safety for motorists.
