A 37-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner who hid her body in the box of a bed at their rented house on the outskirts of Mumbai, police said today. Hardik Shah tried to flee after the crime in Palghar district of Maharashtra but was arrested from a train by the railway police.
Hardik was unemployed while Megha, who was working as a nurse, provided for the entire household expenses which led to frequent quarrels between the couple and this led to the murder, police said in a statement.
After killing Megha, Hardik sold some household items and escaped with the money. The police got information that he was fleeing by train and the railway police arrested him. A crime branch team has now taken custody of the accused.
Hardik and Megha had been in a relationship for three years and were living together for the past six months. Their neighbours told the police about the frequent quarrels between them.
