A 30-year-old tourist from Maharashtra died after falling hundreds of feet to the ground during a paragliding flight in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district
The fall is attributed to a harness failure during the tandem flight with a pilot. When the paraglider was in the air, his safety belt reportedly gave way, plunging him to the ground.
The tourist and the pilot were rushed to Kullu hospital by the locals, where Suraj was declared brought dead. The pilot of the paraglider is reported to be recovering in hospital.
The deceased, identified as Suraj Sanjay Shah of Shirval village in Maharashtra’s Satara district, was on a visit to the hill state with his friends.
The relatives of the deceased have also been informed,” Police is investigating the cause of the accident and the culprit will be found in the matter,” Superintendent of Police Gurudev Sharma said on Sunday.
“A case of negligence has been registered under sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC Act,” the SP said.
