In major breakthrough, Sachin Bishnoi, key accused in Moosewala murder case extradited from Azerbaijan

Gangster Sachin Bishnoi alias Sachin Thapan, the key accused in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case was extradited to India from Baku, Azerbaijan by Delhi Police. Announcing the extradition Delhi Police Special Cell Commissioner HGS Dhaliwal said that Sachin was brought to India with the help of organised efforts of the Delhi Police special cell, which had been coordinating with other agencies including authorities from Azerbaijan.

The police said that the extradition was conducted in cooperation with Azerbaijan authorities, the Home Ministry, Ministry of External Affairs, the CBI, Interpol and other related agencies.
“This extradition and deportation gives a clear message that it’s not easy to hide anywhere after committing a crime in India,” said Dhaliwal
A native of Punjab’s Fazilka, Sachin is a relative of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who had been absconding after the sensational murder of Moosewala in May 2022. He had been fighting a legal battle in Azerbaijan to avoid extradition to India after he was detained there in August last year. Sachin left India via Dubai just before Moosewala’s murder. He allegedly managed the logistics for Moosewala’s murder and then left India for Dubai on a fake passport issued in the name of Tilak Raj Tuteja. Later he fled to Baku and was detained there.

“It is a major breakthrough as Special Cell has extradited Sachin Bishnoi from Baku, Azerbaijan. He had appeared on a news channel and taken responsibility for killing Sidhu Moosewala and had challenged authorities. Since then, for the past 16 months, a much organised effort of special cell was underway and four shooters were arrested from different parts of the county including Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Mastermind Lawrence Bishnoi revealed details of the incident during his remand which led to the arrest of prime accused, Sachin of their syndicate”, added Dhaliwal.
Moosewala was shot dead on May 29 last year in Mansa, a day after the Punjab government removed his security cover. The investigation led police to gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his close aide Goldy Brar, who is said to be based in Canada. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had arrested Lawrence Bishnoi’s key aide Vikramjeet Singh alias Vikram Brar, after his deportation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to India.
