Caught on camera: Traffic cop dragged on car bonnet for 1 km by rogue driver in Mumbai outskirts

A traffic police constable was dragged on the bonnet of a car for over 1 km after he tried to stop the car for jumping a traffic signal at Vasai on the outskirts of Mumbai, according to local police. The driver has been arrested and charged with attempt to murder.

The incident happened on late Sunday evening in Vasai town of Palghar district. The constable was on duty at a busy road crossing and flagged down the car for the traffic violation. However, while the policemen was questioning the driver, he suddenly accelerated the car hitting the constable, who fell on the car’s bonnet and was dragged on for over 1 km.

The driver was forced to halt due to a traffic jam which enabled the local people to overpower him. He was then handed over to the police. The constable sustained injuries in the incident.
