There was high drama on the streets of Hyderabad on Tuesday as the local police dragged away the car of political leader YS Sharmila, who is also the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, while she was still sitting in the driver’s seat.
YS Sharmila had joined a protest rally being staged by her party, YSR Telangana, against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). The rally was headed to Pragati Bhavan, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s official residence.
Soon after she started in her car, police brought in a crane that dragged around the vehicle through the city’s roads.
A day earlier, she had been briefly detained following a clash between her supporters and workers of the ruling TRS in Warangal.
