BJP must set targets for next 25 years to meet rising aspirations of people, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that it is time for the BJP to set targets for the next 25 years to fulfil the rising hopes and aspirations of the people which “greatly increases the responsibility” of the party.

Addressing the BJP's national office bearers' meeting in Rajasthan's Jaipur via video conferencing, the Prime Minister said, “India is seen as a country filled with aspirations. Now, every citizen of India wants to see work getting done along with witnessing the outcome. In this backdrop, the responsibility of governments increases tremendously.”

He exhorted BJP party workers not to be complacent over the party’s recent successes.

"As the party has governments in 18 states, it has more than 400 MPs and 1,300 MLAs, one might tend to think it’s enough. But that should not be the case … We should not be complacent as our founding fathers have taught us to continue working hard for the people and their welfare," PM Modi explained.

He pointed out that this month, the BJP government at the Centre would be completing eight years in power during which the country has seen “balanced development, social justice and social security”.

“These eight years have been of resolutions and of accomplishments. These eight years have been dedicated to service, good governance and welfare of the poor,” PM Modi remarked.

The government had worked to fulfil expectations of small farmers, workers and the middle class, he added.

“But we don't have to rest. Even today, we are impatient, restless, eager because our basic goal is to take India to that height which was dreamed of by those who died for the country's independence,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi also said that a trust deficit existed in the government before 2014, referring to the Congress regime. But the NDA government in the last eight years restored trust of the people by ensuring the robust delivery mechanism of various schemes, he added.

"Today even the poorest of the poor are getting benefits of various schemes. The poor of the country today say with great confidence that one day, he/she will certainly get benefits of such schemes," said PM Modi.

The Prime Minister also hailed the BJP workers for the party's victory in the general elections and various state assembly polls.

"During Jan Sangh's time, we were on the margins of national politics and people hardly knew us. Despite that, our workers worked hard in their pursuit of nation-building," he reminded them.
