15-year-old Nagpur girl delivers baby at home after watching YouTube videos, then kills newborn

In a shocking case, a 15-year-old girl delivered a baby at her home in Maharashtra’s Nagpur after watching YouTube videos and then killed the newborn, according to the local police.

A police official said the girl was sexually exploited by a man she befriended on social media and found this to be the only way out after she became pregnant.

As she wanted to keep the matter secret she decided that home delivery was the only way out and started watching YouTube videos to handle child birth.

She managed to hide her pregnancy from her mother by passing it away as a health problem.

On March 2, she gave birth to a girl at her home and immediately strangled the newborn to death. She then hid the body in a box in her home, a police official said..

When her mother returned home, she questioned the girl about her health. “The girl then told her entire story to her mother, after which she was taken to a hospital. The body of the newborn was sent for post-mortem.

A case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The charge of murder will be registered after the post-mortem report, the police official said.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
