Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is replanting 15-year-old coconut trees in Sagarnagar beach as part of the development plan to attract more tourists.

“Generally, trees which have grown to a decent size die immediately after being uprooted. However, with special techniques, the workers are ensuring that the 15-year-old trees are safe and still growing after being planted in the sand,” GVMC Commissioner P Raja Babu told ANI.

He said that the aim was to beautify the beach and also provide shade for tourists. The local people also come to the beach for a morning walk and they too will benefit from the shade and enjoy the more scenic surrounding.
