The incident took place in Pihrid village of Malkharoda development block last week on Friday. Sahu fell into this deep borewell located in the backyard of his residence while he was playing.

To ensure his well-being a pipeline was installed for oxygen supply. The child, according to the Administration, was “breathing but not showing clear movement”.

The entire rescue operation took around 500 personnel, including officials from the National Disaster Response Force, the Army and the local police were involved. To extricate the child a 70-feet pit parallel to the borewell was dug up while a 15-feet tunnel was constructed to connect the pit with the borewell.

A green corridor was created to shift Sahu quickly to the Bilaspur hospital for medical treatment.
