Gadkari lays foundation for 8 national highway projects in Andhra Pradesh

Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways today laid the foundation for eight national highway projects with a cost of Rs 3000 crore in Andhra Pradesh.

Gadkari, while addressing a gathering, said the projects, once completed will provide greenfield road connectivity to Kakinada Special Economic Zone, SEZ port, fishing harbour and Kakinada anchorage port. The move will smoothen the export of rice, sea food, oil meals, iron-ore, bio-fuel, granite among other goods through Kakinada Port.

Gadkari said the road projects include construction of five flyovers at Kaikaram, Morampudi, Undarajavaram, Tetali and Jonnada and after their completion, it would provide hassle-free and safe traffic movement for places like Namavaram, Satellite City, Mandapeta, Ramchandrapuram, Kakinada, Undarajavaram, Nidadavolu, Tanuku Town and Kaikaram. Special safety features will also be ensured for the rectification of blackspots.

Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the National Logistics Policy to address issues hindering the transport sector and thereby boosting economic activities by reducing costs. The move will facilitate in laying down an interdisciplinary, cross sectoral, resilient and sustainable logistics sector.

Connectivity and strengthening logistics have been the emphasis of the government. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday approved the National Logistics Policy to address issues hindering the transport sector and thereby boosting economic activities by reducing costs. The move will facilitate in laying down an interdisciplinary, cross sectoral, resilient and sustainable logistics sector.
