After hiking diesel prices Wednesday, oil marketing companies (OMCs) left the fuel rates unchanged today.
In the National Capital, petrol is still priced at Rs 80.43 a liter while diesel prices remain a tad higher at Rs 80.78 a liter.
After keeping priced unchanged for previous seven days the OMCs had increased the price of diesel by 25 paisa Wednesday. A liter in Delhi yesterday while keeping petrol prices unchanged.
Delhi is the only metro city where diesel is priced higher than petrol and this has been maintained since June 24, when for the first time ever the transportation fuel was priced over petrol.
Officials at OMCs said that since diesel prices are seeing more volatility in the international market, price changes in this fuel segment has been higher. But with global oil prices also rising again and set to touch $43 a barrel, expectation is that fuel prices may again see an uptick in the coming days.
Before yesterday, fuel prices remained unchanged for the seven consecutive days.
OMCs decided to maintain prices of the transportation fuel after increasing them for 23 out of the past 33 days.
