Calicut-bound Air India Express plane makes emergency landing as engine catches fire

An Air India Express  flight bound for Calicut International Airport from Abu Dhabi was forced to turn back and make an emergency landing shortly after take-off as the one of the engines of the plane caught fire.

The pilot of the Air India Express noticed the flame as the plane was ascending and immediately turned back to Abu Dhabi, sources said.

The aircraft landed safely and all the 184 passengers onboard the flight are reported to be safe.
