Virat Kohli breaks Tendulkar’s record

India’s star batter Virtat Kohli scripted history on Sunday as he broke master blaster Sachin Tendulakar’s record to score the fastest 25,000 runs in international cricket. The feat was accomplished on Day 3 of the second Test versus Australia Delhi. Sachin achieved the landmark in 577 matches while Virat has scaled the  peak in 549 matches. Following Virat and Sachin on the elite list are Ricky Ponting (588) Jacques Kallis (594), Kumar Sangakkara (608) and Mahela Jayawardene (701).

Kohli arrived at the crease on Sunday after Indian opening batters KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma departed early. However, just when he was getting into his groove with 20 runs on the board, he fell to Todd Murphy.

India went on to win the match with 6 wickets as Australia had been packed off for a mere 113 runs in the second innings requiring India to score 115 for victory.
