The viral video on India Narrative Twitter showing a soldier playing the song “Teri Mitti” from the hit Hindi film “Kesari” of 2019, at the Beating the Retreat ceremony, had the lead actor of the movie, Akshay Kumar, feel proud and emotional.

Video:

What makes the flute rendering very touching is that the soldier played it at Vijay Chowk in the rain. Sharing the video Kumar wrote: “Very proud that Teri Mitti from my film Kesari was played so beautifully at Beating the Retreat ceremony. This song has touched the core of millions of people. What a blessing.”

“Kesari” revolves around the Battle of Saragarhi which was fought between 21 Sikh soldiers belonging to 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army and 10,000 Orakzai and Afridi Pashtun tribesmen in 1897. The film had three versions of this soulful song.
