Team India wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson has been ruled out of the remainder of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka after hurting his left knee during the 1st T20I played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday.
Samson was injured while attempting to field a ball near the boundary ropes.
He was taken for scans and a specialist opinion in Mumbai by the BCCI medical team following which the Kerala cricketer has been advised rest and rehabilitation.
BCCI’s Senior Selection Committee has named Jitesh Sharma as a replacement for Samson.
India plays the second T20I against Sri Lanka in Pune later today.
