Punjabi singer Karan Aujla’s aide arrested in crackdown on singers-gangsters nexus

Punjabi singer Karan Aujla’s associate Sharpy Ghuman was arrested by the state police in a major crackdown on the Punjabi singers-gangsters-travel agents nexus, according to a report in the Tribune newspaper.

The arrests were carried out by the anti-gangster task force (AGTF) of the Punjab police.

AGTF sources said that an FIR has been lodged with the state crime branch and eight people have been apprehended, majority of them travel agents, according to the report.

Aujla came under a cloud after a video went viral showing him performing at a wedding function where fugitive Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was also present.

Anmol Bishnoi is wanted in connection with the Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala murder case which has rocked Punjab. Moosewala, a popular singer, was shot dead by gangster in a village near Mansa in May last year. Since then, police have been hunting for the culprits.

Aujla said that he was  booked for the wedding show at the request of a common friend. He had no idea about who would be attending the function and didn’t even notice who all were present. He simply did the show and left the venue. He also said that he would never knowingly associate himself with any questionable individuals.
