Legendary Pak singer Abida Parveen’s Ramzan album highlights cross-border collaboration and spirit of sharing

Well-known Pakistani Sufi singer Abida Parveen’s soothing voice in the holy month of Ramzan sets the tone and tenor of this important festival signifying universal brotherhood, peace and love. Doing this precisely is her latest album “O Mere Maula”, a collaboration between artists across the India-Pakistan border released recently, featuring Merchant brothers – Salim and Sulaiman – and popular Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi.</p>

Released on YouTube, the song has already garnered views in the lakhs. Praveen celebrates Eid spirit every year with numbers like “Bismillah”, “Allahu Akbar” and “Astagfirullah”.</p>

Shot at two locations, namely Islamabad and Toronto, Canada – the video starts by depicting the cross-border collaboration and then moves to the narrative which is about a family headed by a single father who sells flutes to raise a son and daughter.</p>
<p>
Forced by circumstance, the boy pockets some money about which he informs his father at the end of the day. The honest man is livid but then the children manage to win him over with their spirit of sharing and giving.</p>
<p>
Parveen, who has fans across the world, is a much loved and respected singer in India and Pakistan. Jada Smith, Hollywood actor, refers to her as "spiritual mother”.</p>
<p>
The singer holds the distinction of being one artist who is listened to by maximum people during Ramzan.</p>
