KK’s untimely demise strikes a chord in Pakistan – tributes pour in from across the border

<strong>Music transcends borders, even that of India-Pakistan which is always tense! A case in point is the expression of condolences and grief by artists from Pakistan on the sudden demise of 53-year-old Indian singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, aka KK following his live show in Kolkata last night.</strong></p>
<p>
Farhan Saeed Butt, a Pakistani songwriter-singer, music video director and actor who was the former lead vocalist of the band Jal shared the sad news of KK’s death on his Instagram with the hit song “Pyaar Ke Pal”. Likewise, Bilal Maqsood guitarist and composer and founding member of the group Strings also shared the news.</p>

Sharing KK’s image on his Instagram, singer Faisal Kapadia wrote: "I am shocked… can’t believe it. Always loved his work and his soulful voice. Gone too soon".</p>

Penning a post remembering KK, radio host Dino Ali wrote that as a teenager he listened to KK's album Pal. "I remember being a young boy in my room singing along to every song knowing every word and would mimic your [KK] tone, your long notes, your style. You were one of the few artists that I had heard singing western soulful melodies in Urdu/Hindi and I knew I wanted to do the same."</p>

Mentioning that he had sung many of his songs he wrote: "You were my musical hero and as anyone knows I have said this many times you are and will always be one of my favourites. I will always be sad that I never got to tell you in person how much your music your artistry means to me how you inspired me – but I remember you and your loved ones in my prayers – RIP legend – thank you for your music thank you for the memories sir.”</p>
<p>
Popular Pakistani model and actor Minal Khan, resharing a news post on her Instagram described KK’s untimely death as “unbelievable”.</p>
<p>
Singer-actor Ali Zafar, who has also worked in the Hindi film industry, mourned the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala and the untimely death of KK.</p>
