India-born Falguni Shah makes the country proud by winning Grammy

<p>
<strong>India once again was in the limelight at the Grammy Awards 2022 with Falguni Shah, an Indian-American singer winning the Award for “A Colorful World” in the Best Children's Album category.</strong></p>
<p>
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in a Twitter message congratulated the singer on receiving the prestigious award.</p>

Shah whose stage name is Falu expressed her happiness after the win and shared pictures from the Grammy 2022 on the social media. In her Instagram post she wrote: "I have no words to describe today's magic. What an honor to perform for the opening number of the GRAMMY Premier Ceremony, and then take home a statue on behalf of all the incredible people who worked on A Colorful World. We are humbled and thank the Recording Academy for this tremendous recognition. THANK YOU!"</p>
<p>
Shah enjoys the distinction of being the only Indian-origin woman to be nominated in the Best Children’s Music Album category at the Grammys twice. Earlier she was nominated in 2018 for her album “Falu’s Bazaar”.</p>
<p>
Shah, who is in her early 40s , is trained in the Jaipur musical tradition and the Banaras style of Thumri under Kaumudi Munshi and in semi-classical music by Uday Mazumdar. She moved to US in 2000 and has collaborated with AR Rahman, Yo-Yo Ma, Wyclef Jean, Philip Glass, Ricky Martin and Blues Traveler, among others.</p>
