Family and friends show heart – help specially-abled Kerala student overcome serious obstacles

When one has friends, no obstacle in life is insurmountable. A standing example of this is Alif Mohammed of Kerala who has no legs since birth but has never faced any problem in school and college thanks to his friends who take him around.

A video of this B.Com student of DB College in Sasthamkota in Kollam district, being carried by two of his friends, Arya and Archana, has gone viral and was shot by Jagat Thulasidharan, a wedding photographer and an alumnus of the college.

Reacting to the footage, Mohammed said: “Since morning, I have been getting calls. I had my exam today, so I switched off the phone for a while but when I turned it back on, I had around 800 missed calls. I didn’t expect the video to go viral. It is my friends who always help me in college. Not just someone special, but they all take me with them.”

Mohammed despite his disability has a positive outlook towards life and expressed his gratitude to his friends who have been helping him. He is the eldest son of the family which includes his parents, and two younger siblings.

An avid traveller, Mohmmad has gone to many parts of India, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Now he is keen to visit countries abroad and the first one on his list is Dubai. He uses a wheelchair everywhere and where it is not possible, his friends and family members help.
