Taking up a gruelling challenge for a good cause is really worth the effort even if it is strenuous and this is what BBC weatherman Owain Wyn Evans did. By taking up the challenge of drumming non-stop for 24 hours, he raised more than 3 million pounds for Children in Need.

Evans started his challenge on Friday on the BBC Breakfast show and on Saturday he completed it. In this project another 50 drummers joined him. Among them were Al Murray the comedian, musician Harry Judd and also the Royal Marine drumming band.

For the finale of his 24-hour-drumathon, Evans chose Britney Spears' “One More Time” as the finale to mark the end of this popular singing star’s 13-year conservatorship.

On completion of this challenge, Evans remarked: "I can't believe that we've done it.”

Through his novel initiative, Evans raised 3,062,418 pounds in total and this will go to BBC Children In Need – an entity that funds 3,900 charities across the UK.

Stating that the “money is going to change lives”, Evans thanked everyone of the donors. "Thank you to everyone who has donated… wherever you are, wherever you live, there will be children and young people who benefit from this."

In the course of this non-stop drumming, Evans took short breaks and time out for medical attention, which is essential for this type of constant playing.

It may be recalled that Evans had earlier posted a video clipping of drumming the broadcaster’s theme song which went viral on the social media.
