Andhra Pradesh’s Rushikonda Blue Flag beach being spruced up for visitors

Andhra Pradesh is all set to modernise its Rushikonda Beach, the only Blue Flag beach in the State at a cost of Rs.1.69 crores. This amount will be spent to provide more facilities to the visitors to the beach and make it more attractive for the tourists.

The authorities have ensured that while providing more facilities, they will ensure that the standards required for the Blue Flag are maintained.

The beach will now have beach chairs, solar power, bio-toilets, showers, a solid waste management plant, provision for grey water treatment, and a drinking water plant among other facilities.

To ensure that there is zero littering a protection ring will be set up while aesthetic murals will be installed to beautify the place. For the safety of the visitors, bollards and boom barriers will be installed.

Visitors will now have separate areas to play cricket and football along with a volleyball court on the beach.

Those eager to get married on the beach will now have a stage for that purpose there.

Rushikonda Beach has secured the Blue Flag certification for two years in a row after complying with rigorous criteria like bathing water quality, beach safety, environmental management, and coastal climate.

The Blue Flag is issued by the Foundation for Environmental Education, a Danish organisation after conducting 33 standard tests for the beaches.
