US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has been infiltrated by Pak radical groups—DisinfoLab Asia

The US State Department has rejected a recommendation by the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) to list India as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) alongside Pakistan and China–two countries where minority rights are systematically violated.

Ironically, USCIRF has put Afghanistan on a Special Watch List where the religious minorities have been nearly wiped out along with their religious symbols.

DisinfoLab Asia has released its research titled—USCIRF: An Organization Of Particular Concern, on how a democratic and secular India got clubbed with Pakistan—an avowed Muslim country—for religious disharmony.

DisinfoLab Asia says that "…there has been a continuous and coordinated attack to target India’s image globally… On one hand, they have been trying to diminish the soft power India enjoys globally starting with the credo of non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi to Yoga and Chai; and on the other hand trying to replace this with made up narratives of ‘Islamophobia’ and ‘Rising Fascism’ in India".

DisinfoLab Asia says that the USCIRF, which is an independent, bipartisan US federal government commission to monitor the freedom of religion in foreign countries–has been compromised due to the excessive influence of US-based Islamist groups whose roots can be traced back to Pakistan.

It mentions the names of these groups, which include the Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA). The ICNA has strong links with the radical Pakistani organisation Jammat-e-Islami and terror groups like the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Hizbul Mujahideen.

The IAMC has derived itself from another dubious organisation–India America Center for Social Justice (IACSJ) which was set up onlu in 2020 and which purportedly works “to safeguard the constitutional rights of India’s minorities and marginalized communities”.

The report says that besides the IAMC and the ICNA, radical organisations based in the US have opened up other outfits with innocuous names like the Burma Task Force (BTF) and Save India to mask their operations and give a facade of legitimacy. However, these organisations have the same founding father–Shaik Ubaid, a medical practitioner of Indian origin.

DisinfoLab Asia says that Ubaid was associated with the ICNA and later also founded the IAMC. Now he has set up the BTF whose behind-the-scenes work focuses only on anti-Indian propaganda.

The BTF was earlier called the Burma Muslims but changed its name to BTF in 2017. It has been collecting large donations for the Rohingya cause from American Muslims but has been rolling out these funds to US lobbyists against India.

DisinfoLab Asia says that all of these organisations–IAMC, ICNA, BTF and many working with them are hiring professional American lobbyists to target India at the USCIRF.

The report—USCIRF: An Organization Of Particular Concern, shows how India has been forcibly thrust into the infamous CPC list by Pakistan-managed American Islamists who have started numerous NGOs with names like Justice for All, Sri Lanka Task Force, Faith Coalition, Save India, Free Kashmir and Save Uyghurs—all of which seek to target India in the US. No wonder the US State Department rejected India's name on the list.
