A woman was badly hurt when a car rammed into her in Hyderabad’s Rajendra Nagar locality in what is likely an attempt to murder case.

The incident took place on Wednesday in the Chintalmet neighbourhood inside the boundaries of the Rajendra Nagar police station of the Cyberabad commissionerate, news agency IANS reported.

On Thursday, a CCTV video of the incident went viral on social media. A speeding car is seen swerving and striking a woman who is walking on the side of the road. The woman wearing a burqa was flung into the air and she fell a few metres away.

The 19-year-old is reportedly in critical condition at the hospital where she was admitted, according to police.

Police launched an investigation and looked into whether it was a road accident or a murder attempt. The video showed that the driver of the vehicle intentionally struck her as he swerved to the left and accelerated away.

A few onlookers called the police, who arrived quickly and took the victim to a nearby hospital.

Police were trying to find the whereabouts of the car and identify the driver. Additionally, they were awaiting the woman's recovery so they could record her statement.

As part of the inquiry, police officers were also taking notes from the woman's family members.
