In a shocking road rage incident, a motorist dragged a traffic policeman on the bonnet of his car for 4 km after he was hauled up for violating traffic rules at Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Monday.

According to police officials, head constable Shiv Singh Chouhan stopped a car as the driver was talking on his mobile phone and asked him to pay a fine. The errant driver then flew into a fit of rage and suddenly drove his car even though the traffic cop was in front. The head constable managed to save himself by leaping on to the bonnet, but the angry driver refused to stop even though the policeman’s life was at risk.

The rogue driver even tried to throw off the head constable by suddenly slamming the brakes but he managed to cling on.

Police then surrounded the speeding vehicle and forced it to stop. The  accused was arrested under sections 279 (rash driving), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to on duty public servant) and other relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code.

A pistol and a revolver have also been recovered from the possession of the accused, who is a resident of Gwalior.

“The accused has claimed that these weapons are licensed and we are investigating the matter,” the official said.
