Union Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari formally inaugurated the Delhi-Meerut Expressway on Thursday along with the intelligence traffic system control room.

The 96 kilometres long DME reduces the travel time between the two cities to just 45 minutes from two-and-a-half hours that it took earlier.

The minister also launched the Integrated Command Control Room at Dasna in Ghaziabad, which has been set up to keep an eye on activities taking place on the expressway.

Addressing a gathering the Minister of Road Transport and Highways said the government has constructed highways using the world's latest technology.
