42,000 kg of seized narcotic drugs to be destroyed across 14 locations across the country tomorrow

A total of around 42,000 kg narcotics that have been seized by Customs officials from smugglers will be destroyed tomorrow at 14 locations across the country, according to a finance ministry statement.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) will be conducting a Drug Destruction Day on June 8 as part of Iconic Week of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations of the Finance Ministry to mark the 75th year of Indian independence, the statement said.    

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will virtually witness the destruction process to be held at Mumbai, Guwahati, Lucknow, Mundra/Kandla, Patna and Siliguri and will address the officers, the statement added.
