Students of four schools in Noida test positive for COVID-19

Twenty-three students from four schools in Uttar Pradesh's Noida, on the outskirts of Delhi, have tested positive for the COVID-19 over the last three days, an official said on Wednesday.

India saw a single day rise of 1,088 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours while the number of active cases stood at 10,870, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

There were also 26 fresh deaths due to coronavirus, official figures showed.

The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.25 per cent and the weekly positivity rate as 0.24 per cent, according to the ministry.

Vaccination drive

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has now surpassed 186.07 crore till 7 am today.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 2.32 crore adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards and as many as 45,289 of these third doses have been administered so far.
