India registers 10% dip in new cases of Covid-19.

India registered 14,306 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, 10.1 per cent lower than the previous day, according to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday morning.

As many as 443 people succumbed to the infection in the past 24 hours.

The five states which have registered the highest number of daily cases are Kerala with 8,538 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 1,410, Tamil Nadu with 1,127infections, West Bengal with 989 and Odisha with 447 cases.

These five states reported 87.45 per cent of the new cases, with Kerala accounting for 59.68 per cent of them.

The highest number of deaths in the last 24 hours were also reported in Kerala at 363, followed by Maharashtra with 18.

The daily count in West Bengal has gone up after the Durga Puja festivities. The state has recorded a 41% increase over the past week. The authorities are keeping their fingers crossed as north India is still in the midst of the festive season with Diwali round the corner and shopping crowds are on the rise.
