Govt Working to Make India an Automobile Manufacturing Hub : Gadkari

India is posied to become a global automobile manufacturing hub in the next five years, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday. He added that this will also boost Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme.

Gadkari also said that the government is trying to create an ecosystem which would encourage use of electric vehicles.

Addressing a virtual conference ‘9th Edition of Auto Serve 2020‘Electric Mobility Conference 2020-Seizing Opportunities in New Normal, Gadkari asked the automobile industry to come together to work jointly towards achieving a broader national agenda of reducing pollution.

The minister pointed out that the auto industry has made significant strides in the area of designs and models thanks to the robust R&D facility, huge market aided by stable government frame-work and bright and young engineering minds.

Gadkari also said that the government is working towards creating an e-highway on the Delhi and Mumbai Expressway.  He added that the auto sector should look at making different variants including double decker busses to cater to the market needs.
