Watch: Wild elephants demand treat as toll tax from truck carrying sugarcane through their territory

Elephants stopped a sugarcane-laden truck and allowed it to pass only when they were given canes to eat

It is not always that animal-human encounter has to end up in a tragedy as at times it can be a hilarious situation too. Take for instance, the video tweeted by Praveen Kaswan, Indian Forest Officer, showing an elephant and a calf stopping a truck laden with sugarcane. What indeed is remarkable is the moment a couple of sugarcane bundles are tossed on the roadside, the elephants move away and start enjoying the treat.

Video:

Kaswan in a follow-up tweet asked people not to feed wild animals as it is not good for them. He said this makes the animals get used to treats prompting them to wander near human colonies outside their habitat.
