A video posted by Indian Forest Officer Parween Kaswan shows a mother elephant saving her calf from drowning in a fast-flowing river near Nagrakata in North Bengal.

The baby elephant loses its footing in the strong current in the middle of the river and is swept away. The mother elephant acts promptly in rushing after the calf and catching it with her trunk.

The mother and her calf then jointly cross the river towards the main herd waiting for them on the bank of the river.
