On Camera: Tiger swept away by flooded river but recovers to swim across

Screengrab from the video

A tiger was swept away by strong current when it tried to cross the flooded Gerua River in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. But the powerful beast was eventually able to recover downstream and swim across to the bank and enter the forest later.  Indian Forest Service officer (IFS) Ramesh Pandey has uploaded two videos which capture the sequence of events.

The first video shows the tiger battling the powerful current to get out of the river but is swept away by the river which is in spate due to the monsoon. However, the beast continues to swim downstream.

In a subsequent video, the tiger can be seen to have recovered from the ordeal and swam across the vast stretch of water and finally reach the forest on the other side.
