Thounaojam Niranjoy Singh from Manipur broke the Guinness Book of World Records for most push-ups on finger tips in one minute
Making India and Manipur proud, 24-year-old Thounaojam Niranjoy Singh from Manipur broke the Guinness Book of World Records for most push-ups on finger tips in one minute.
Niranjoy, a two-time GBWR holder, broke the past record of 105 push-ups by doing 109 in one minute. The former was held by Graham Maly from the United Kingdom who created this record in 2009. This attempt was by Aztecs Sports Manipur at Imphal’s Aztecs fight studio.
Niranjoy hails from Naran Konjin Mamang Leikai in Imphal West district and his father is Thounaojam Rajen Singh. In 2019, Niranjoy broke the record for most one arm leg push ups in one minute. The next year in 2020, he set the record for most one arm knuckle push ups in one minute.
Talking to the media about this achievement, Dr. Thangjam Parmananda, founder of Aztecs Sports Manipur, said: “It is a historical record for breaking the world record after a gap of 13 years by an Indian.” He said officials of Aztecs Sports Manipur will be sending the attempted videos to GBWR in London to verify the new record.
He further added that Singh will receive the certificate of his achievement after three months.
The attempt for the GBWR was made before observers as prescribed by the Guinness. These observers included L Umakant Singh, working president, Kickboxing Association, Manipur; Jasobanta K, Wushu national coach; Suraj Ningthouja, Bodybuilding Association of Manipur; Padmeshwar, tech head, Kickboxing Association Manipur; Lemba Salam, tech head, Aztecs Sports Manipur; Gobin Yabem, four-time Guinness World Record holder, and Vidyasagar, two-time Guinness World Record holder.
