In an unfortunate incident, a 84-year-old man, V.Krishna Reddy had to spend a night in the locker room of a bank, where he was accidentally locked up by the staff, after they left the premises on Monday.

Reddy was found lying on the floor in a semi-unconscious state and was rushed to the hospital, the police said. His condition was reported to be stable.

Reddy had visited the bank on Monday evening to open his locker and the bank staff who had apparently not seen him, left him inside, closing the premises after the official hours.

When the senior citizen, who is a diabetic did not return home, his family members went to the Jubilee Hills Police Station and filed a complaint. A missing case was registered Inspector S Rajasekhar Reddy informed to PTI.

During their investigation, the cops checked the CCTV footage and observed Reddy entering the bank premises and after the staff had left, they saw that Reddy had not come out. This led them to conclude that he was still inside the bank premises itself.

On reaching the bank on Tuesday morning, police asked the bank officials to open the locker room and found Reddy there.

Reddy had forgotten to carry his mobile and therefore was unable to inform about his plight, the police said.

A case of negligence will be registered against the bank staff, the police informed.
